The person behind the brand
Some fun facts about me:
In autumn my favorite thing to do is forage for edible mushrooms! I love turning a walk in the woods into a scavenger hunt!
I have a background in illustration
I love traveling! In the summer of 2024, I quit my job at Trader Joe’s to live in the British countryside where I worked landscaping and gardening, and it was the greatest decision of my life. I have travelled to 20 countries and 21 states.
Hi there! I’m Dan, a printmaker and illustrator originally from Boston and currently living in Ohio.
Nothing makes me happier than being in nature discovering small moments to preserve in the form of art. I founded FollowTheFoxStudio because capturing the world through printmaking and watercolor brings me endless joy, and I want to share that with others.
Why “Follow the Fox Studio”?
As an artist, my identity is rooted in both nature and story telling. I love the natural world, the spirit of exploration, and romanticizing a simpler bygone era.
Foxes are not only my favorite animal, but foxes are also the perfect symbol of nature and story telling from days long ago. These amazing and elusive creatures are full of personality - it’s no wonder they synonymous with folklore. For centuries they’ve been featured in fables and folktales, as well as prints and drawings. Sly foxes hide between the pages of centuries old books, just as they hide amongst the ferns in the woods. They’re a common motif in my nature-heavy work, but to me they also represent a playful connection to storytelling, and to the past.
Similar to how adaptable foxes are to live in many ecosystems, my art inhabits different forms. I enjoy repurposing antique or thrifted items in my art and using mediums such as traditional block prints, watercolors, or creating dioramas.
Elusive foxes move deliberately through nature. My studio aims to movement is found in every piece of my work - from lines carved to brush strokes - so please follow along and see where the art leads!
